Soon D and myself decided it was time to get married, I had just finished university and we were ready to start our own home together. I think most of our friends expected us to get married in a registers office and have a non-religious ceremony, I later heard some were shocked to find the name of a church on their invite.
But for us there was little question of us not having a church wedding. I had strong links to St. Johns having been christened, confirmed and schooled there and was fortunate enough to be living in its boundaries again.
But it wasn't just pretty pictures and a sense of tradition that we were after, we wanted a real marriage. I had seen my Aunt and Uncle marry at a registers office and I didn't feel that I had witnessed the creation of a marriage, that a union had been created and sadly I don't think they did either.
And so we booked a meeting with Farther John to discuss our wedding
